Mr. Devendra Kumar Somani

The Group continuously draws inspiration from our patriarch, Late Mr. D K Somani who was a visionary leader and was instrumental in bringing the Group to this milestone. He studied Economics and was able to quickly recognize the changing trends in the Indian economy. After working in the family-owned Steel mills, his vision drove the Group into international business. He pioneered the exports of Indian Steel products. Longstanding joint-ventures with world’s leading companies are a testimony of his foresight and vision. The Group continues to follow his vision and ethics to diversify and expand the business.

Mr. Somani was also deeply involved with Somani Foundation which was setup by him to actively contribute in philanthropic and social causes for the welfare of people such as providing scholarships to poor students, distributing clothes, providing medical aid, donating medical equipment to charitable hospitals, building wards and other infrastructure for charitable hospitals.

With a history dating back more than three centuries, the Somani Group is one of the oldest business houses of India. Our epochal journey began in 1696 with the setting up of banking business. The Group later diversified into trading and manufacturing activities. The process of expansion and diversification continued all throughout our long-standing history.
